Psalmus 129
Psalmus CXXIX (Allioli IV, p.368-369)
Canticum graduum.
1De profundis clamavi ad te Domine :
2Domine exaudi vocem meam. Fiant aures tue intendentes, in vocem deprecationis mee.
3Si iniquitates observaveris Domine : Domine quis sustinebit.
4Quia apud te propitiatio est : et propter legem tuam sustinui te Domine. Sustinui anima mea in verbo eius :
5speravit anima mea in domino.
6A custodia matutina usque ad noctem : sperat Israel in Domino.
7Quia apud Dominum misericordia : et copiosa apud eum redemptio.
8Et ipse redimet Israel, ex omnibus iniquitatibus eius.

Psalm 129 is one of the gradual psalms, and as such always included in the hours of the Virgin Mary, either at sext or none. It it also one of the Seven penitential psalms. In the Office of the Dead is it always one of the psalms, with varying position. Besides is it often placed as part of a special short devotion in books of hours, cf. also the ackward position in The Bohun Hours.
