Heures à l'usage de Paris c.1465 - Sold Sotheby's 10 July 1972 Lot 47 (f.1-12v)
(Manuscript sold again on eBay 2005-2006 as single leaves see: Dismembra)
Transcript 1994 after photographs in the Conway Library, rubrications not clearly visible on the xerox. On the CHD database was this calendar assigned the sourcecode D in 1994 which later gave its name to a distinctive group of calendars with a large number of variants in common.
The D-group Calendars can be followed at regular intervals from 1400 to 1500. One famous member of the group is the fine calendar on permanent display in the Musee de Cluny in Paris (c.1420-1440). The last occurrence around 1500 is the calendar in the Bodleian Library Ms. Buchanan e.3 which was slightly adapted for use in Rouen.
Since the calendar is a copy after another is the meaning of "Variant" and "error" twofold. Most variants were in fact inherited from a model, others are spontaneous genuine scribal errors created by the hand of the scribe of this particular manuscript.
Before a detailed analysis of this kind of problems, and the typology of the group can be published, is a set of interim records from the database available for advanced studies as a large unformatted Adobe PDF file (274K) - See: Group-D Calendars.
