CHD A Calendar from Bourges
(15th. Century)

This is a plain and sober average calendar, from a book of hours from Bourges (114 days filled in, without February).
As no manuscript, with a calendar from Bourges, is available in the Royal Library in Copenhagen, has this been transcribed from 11 single leaves in a private collection, the leaf with February is missing. The calendar is for secular use, as in most books of hours, but it clearly reflects a liturgical calendar from a Benedictine (male) community, in the diocese of Bourges. The indications of "Primatio" (a small P, i.e. new moon) and "Dies eger" are inconsequent, and probably added in another hand. The manuscript has some small deviations in the series of golden numbers, the particular variations (or scribal errors?) are included here, but not highlighted. The column to the right has information about the identity of the saints, and various comments. I wish to thank the present owner for his kind collaboration by furnishing photographs of the leaves.
